 Please join us for a weekend of photographic creative fun learning about and discovering the world of Cyanotypes. 

 

You can book in for either of the one day workshops or book your place for the whole weekend. 

No prior experience with Cyanotypes is necessary, just a curiosity to learn, experiment and enjoy the creative process.

WORKSHOP 1 - INTRODUCTION TO CYANOTYPES

SATURDAY 30TH NOVEMBER

WORKSHOP DETAILS

Cyanotypes are an alternative photographic process that produce cyan-blue prints on a range of surfaces. Cyanotypes are a fun, easy and creative way to learn about photography!

In this introductory workshop, you will learn how to:

create your own traditional cyanotype prints on both paper and fabric

- mix & use basic cyanotype chemicals

- make photograms with natural objects

- expose prints using sunlight

- develop and intensify prints

- produce your own artworks

Experimental Cyanotypes push the boundaries of the classic technique and offer exciting ways of working with this historical photographic process.

In this more advanced workshop, you will learn how to:

- make digital negatives

- create a range of photographic prints on paper and fabric

- experiment with a range of alternative processes

- use different compounds to create different colours and effects

- tone, enhance and reduce images

    ARTISTS BIOS 

    JAKA ADAMIC 

    Jaka Adamic is a professional photographer specialising in film photography, alternative and old world photographic processes. Originally from Slovenia, he currently lives in Northern NSW.

    In 1996, Jaka began his career as a photojournalist in Ljubljana, Slovenia, covering major domestic and international events in politics, sports and culture as well as documenting conflict zones in Afghanistan and Kosovo. He worked with agencies such as Associated Press (AP) and European Press Agency (EPA), and with the editorial boards of international publications such as Helsingin Sanomat.

    Jaka is co-founder of Zorye Kolektiv, the first photojournalism collective in Slovenia, has won numerous European photography awards, been featured in World Press publications and exhibited his work internationally.

        IMBI DAVIDSON 

        Imbi Davidson is a visual artist currently living Northern NSW.  Her work explores the boundaries between painting, landscape, plants, textiles, abstraction and mark making.

        In 2010, Imbi was awarded an Australian Post Graduate Award to complete her Masters by Research in Painting.  Her MA Thesis The Casuarina Tree - Visual Translations of Native Plants and Art in Australia (2013) is catalogued in the National Library of Australia.  In 2009, Imbi was awarded an Australia Council Artist Mentorship Grant, working with artist/mentor India Flint.

        Imbi is a qualified art teacher, completing her Graduate Diploma in Education in 2007.  She currently teaches classes and workshops across the Northern Rivers region.

        Recent exhibitions include; Five Painters, BSA, Mullumbimby, (2019); Skein, Dust Temple, Gold Coast (2018); Sand.River.Blood.Bone, FirstDraft, Sydney (2017); The Bridge, RAFT Artspace, Alice Springs (2016); The Palisades - Stories of the Mountains, Northern Rivers Regional Gallery (2015).
